Review & Outlook: The President's Cliff Walk - WSJ.com

Review & Outlook: The President's Cliff Walk - WSJ.com: "There's little doubt that Mr. Obama has the political whip hand for the moment. The tax increases and defense spending cuts will automatically take effect if Congress and the President fail to act. Mr. Obama could bludgeon Republicans to accept a deal on his terms, then if they balk simply pocket the tax increases as a revenue windfall, while blaming Republicans if there's a recession.

What that strategy won't do is solve the real problems he's inheriting from his own first term. The deficit is growing by $1 trillion a year and another U.S. credit-rating downgrade beckons as entitlement spending escalates. Above all, the economy is growing too slowly to raise incomes or raise enough revenue for the government.

The question is whether Mr. Obama wants to solve these problems—or continue demonizing Republicans while getting nothing done."

—Getting nothing done?  Some would argue that consolidating Federal control over all health care and financial markets is a big agenda item over the next four years.  Let' see which States stand up and use their 10th Amendment rights to nullify these unconstitutional infringement and encroachments.

A Little Casuistry Goes a Long Way— Brad Pitt's Love of More Government

A Little Casuistry Goes a Long Way: "Having never cared about anybody else's sexual preferences or practices and always being supportive of each individual's right to make their own choices does not mean, however, that Brad Pitt's donation to promote homosexual marriage does not trouble me. His goal is not to pay for someone's wedding, but to get the Government's fist rammed up my rectum with more intrusive and proscriptive laws which are un-constitutional. This is a matter that belongs at the community and church level—if any Government entity has the constitutional authority to enact marriage legislation it is the individual States."

Well I've Already Admitted Lunacy, but Never Idiocy

‎        The Left & the Right throw out the usual ad hominim attacks—in this example, supporters of federal control over the education agenda label anyone not in favor as crazy.

'How convenient! Rather than dealing with the absence of education in Article I, Section 8, which lays out the federal government’s specific powers, you just dismiss as nuts those who think the Feds should be bound by the document through which their powers come.' Neal McCluskey.

p.s. If you don't think your tax dollars are being wasted, then take a look at Neal's Figure 2, Inflation-Adjusted Federal K-12 Spending per Pupil and Achievement of 17-Year-Olds, % Change Since 1970. :-((
